Patient of the Month:  January 2012

Mary Ann is a Cincinnati, Ohio resident and came here specifically for a knee replacement.  She stands out to us because of her smiling face a positive attitude.  The following is her recount of her experience following surgery:

Some months ago, I was diagnosed with total deterioration of my right knee joint by my doctor in Ohio.  A complete replacement of the joint was the recommendation.  My doctor advised that I have this done where I could receive temporary care from one of my children.  Since my daughter lives in Hendersonville, we elected to have the surgery here and chose Dr. Mackel to perform the procedure.

From the outset Dr. Mackel and his staff have been outstanding.  "Joint Camp" made the experience far more pleasant than I ever expected.

While doing my rehabilitation at the Life Care Center with Jim Poore, I was featured by the local ABC affiliate to highlight the center's Omni VR, a virtual reality based system designed to rehab speech, occupational, and physical issues.  There is the possibility that my left knee will also need to be replaced, and when that comes to pass, I'll be back!
